Two familiar characters from the Odyssey:
Circe the sorceress who turned men into literal animals.
A Siren and hapless sailor summoned by her song.
The paints are by John William Waterhouse an English Pre-Raphaelite painter who is most famous for his depictions of female characters from Greek and Arthurian mythology.
It has been a very, very long time since I looked at any of the pre-Raphaelites. Waterhouse strikes me as bland and respectable.
